Bear Cub
Partial day camp for children ages 4 - 6.
DETAILS
Summer Camp 2021
Bear Cub helps guide children as they discover animals throughout the zoo. Each curriculum has a theme; the lens through which campers will build skills such as mindfulness, peer collaboration, empathy and scientific inquiry. A daily routine including morning circle, bathroom breaks, snacks and lunch will help set campers up for school year success. While the daily routine is the structure of the curriculum there is day to day flexibility which allows instructors to focus on campers’ immediate needs and interests; each day is a new adventure.

Bear Necessities
Every bear cub camper—and real-life wolf pup, penguin chick, or porcupette—needs the same basic things to survive and thrive. We all need a safe home, healthy food, and clean water, but do those things look exactly the same for everyone? Campers will spend the week discovering how their own needs and the needs of animals are the same, yet different!
Look! Listen! Touch!
Take a deep breath, and smell all the scents around you. Now imagine you were a bear! What you could smell then would be worlds apart from what a person can! Every single species—including people—have their own collection of senses that set them apart from all others. We’ll explore all of them in one sensory-packed week!

Scholarships for Classes & Camps
Sliding scale scholarships are offered for Woodland Park Zoo classes and camps while funds are available.
The process for requesting financial assistance has changed and is now part of our online registration system.
During uring the registration process, you will select that you are applying for a scholarship, then provide some basic information. This reserves your program selection without requiring immediate payment of any fees while staff review your scholarship application.
Note that your account balance and shopping cart will show the full cost of the program until a staff member is able to review your request. All applications will be reviewed, and an updated statement of charges with adjusted program fees will be sent following review.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at camps@zoo.org if you have any questions. We are happy to walk you through this new process.
